Papercraft Digital Samples

The point of this project was to design objects in Rhinoceros 3D for papercraft. I did this by initially creating a geometrical 3D object, breaking it apart, and then unfolding just like actual paper. The papercraft objects I chose to design were mostly either inspired by my previous post about paper and light artwork created by Deepti Nair and Harikrishnan Panicker, or were parodies of the object it was based off of.

(Fig. 1) A sword, normally a heavy strong weapon used in combat, now reduced to a light harmless toy.

(Fig. 2) A tank, again a very heavy and powerful war machine, turned into something that can be destroyed with a handheld lighter

(Fig. 3) A small house, with some holes cut out and some drawing on the outside this would look very cool with a light inside, almost like a decorative Christmas village house.

(Fig. 4) A pencil is normally used to write on paper, something that I have done way too much. Now it is turned into paper, ironic.

(Fig. 5) This little airplane would look amazing with little windows and a light inserted into fuselage.

(Fig. 6) One of my favourite sports and pastimes, taking a snowmobile up into the mountains and tearing up powder.

(Fig. 7) An hourglass, because I am running out of time to finish this project.

(Fig. 8) An attempt at a face, 3D designers can make self portraits too!

(Fig. 9) This deadly weapon has been used for years to maim and kill, and will now be used as an adorable little paperweight.

(Fig. 10) Try punching anybody with this fist and it will just crumble, working as a symbol of anti violence. Just the other designs that were once deadly.

  1. Yeah! Awesome samples. I could see the snow mobile making a GREAT object for this project...
